Who we are
PixelMunch is an independent design and technology studio at 170 Broadway, New York, NY 10038, USA. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at info@pixelmunch.com or +1 612-803-6082.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry we collect your name, email address, company (optional), budget, timeline and message, plus the page you sent it from. When you join the newsletter we collect your email address, the page you signed up on, when you gave consent and the status of your subscription (for example pending, confirmed or unsubscribed). With both forms we also record your browser's user agent and a salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address, which helps us spot abuse. We never store your raw IP address. When you browse, our own cookieless analytics records the page you viewed, the website that referred you, any campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), your approximate country, device type (from your screen width or user agent) and browser family, and which of our calls to action you click. To count unique visitors without identifying you, we store a one-way hash of your IP address and user agent combined with a secret salt that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked from one day to the next and the hash cannot be traced back to you. We do not use cookies, browser storage, fingerprinting, third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal we record nothing. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived request logs for security.
How we use it
We use enquiry details to reply to you, discuss and manage potential work, and keep a record of our conversation. We use your newsletter email only to send you the newsletter. We use the hashed IP address, user agent and request data to limit repeated submissions and protect the site from spam and attacks. We use analytics only in aggregate, to understand which pages and links are useful and to improve the site. If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (or on taking steps at your request before entering a contract), on your consent for the newsletter, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding, in aggregate, how it is used.
Where it is stored and who we share it with
The site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare is our hosting provider, content delivery network and security layer, including rate limiting, and processes requests on our behalf. Form data and analytics events are stored in PixelMunch's own PostgreSQL database in the United States, reached securely through Cloudflare Hyperdrive and Cloudflare Tunnel. Enquiries may also be passed to the tools we use to manage enquiries, such as our CRM or email, and newsletter addresses to the service we use to send it. These providers may only use the information to provide their service to us and are bound to protect it. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need to respond and manage our relationship with you, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact unless you become a client. We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we do not email you again by mistake. We delete individual analytics events after 13 months and keep only aggregate daily totals, which contain no hashes or other identifiers. Security and request logs are kept by Cloudflare for its standard short retention period.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email or by writing to us. Send any request to info@pixelmunch.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to your local data protection or supervisory authority.
EU, UK and California residents
If you live in the EU or UK, you have the rights described above under the GDPR and UK GDPR. If you live in California, the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know, correct and delete your personal information and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EU, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this policy and the date at the top of this page. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@pixelmunch.com or by post to PixelMunch, 170 Broadway, New York, NY 10038, USA.
